In 2008, the Sisters of Mercy entrusted the overall care of their incorporated ministries to Nga Whaea Atawhai o Aotearoa Tiaki Manatū Sisters of Mercy Ministries New Zealand Trust.

On 1 April 2023, Whānau Mercy Ministries, which is independent of Ngā Whaea Atawhai o Aotearoa Sisters of Mercy New Zealand, commenced responsibility for Mercy incorporated ministries. Click here to read more.

Mercy foundress Catherine McAuley described the works of mercy as the business of the lives of all who shared her dream of relieving the sick, the poor and the uneducated when she opened her first House of Mercy in Dublin in 1827.

Today sisters and lay companions in mission cherish this same practical vision. We work together to meet the changing needs of people in our community – ‘impelled to be Mercy, keeping hope alive in our world today.’
