On Monday 24 September we celebrate Mercy Day. On this day 191 years ago Catherine McAuley opened the first House of Mercy in Dublin on the Feast of Our Lady of Mercy. We give thanks for this gift of God’s mercy in the last 191 years and for the ways in which this mercy has flourished in courageous response to the needs of the times.
